What If I Told You?

What if I told you life was not about how much money you make or where you live or what fancy things you have, would you believe me?  Would you believe me that it is not about how many friends you have or what kind of job you have or what your family thinks of you?  What if I said life was not about how much good you do or how charitable you are?  It isn’t about who you marry or how great your kids are at anything.  It does not matter if you are rich or poor, famous or unknown, or even what ethnicity you are.  Do you still believe me?

What if I told you there is only one thing that can get you through anything? There is only one thing that really matters while you’re alive.  One thing that can make you feel like the richest person in the world, even when you don’t have any money.  Do you believe that?

Having money can help us not worry about bills, friends and family can make you happy, and having material things can make you feel good, but only one thing can fulfill you.  The one thing that makes your heart strong, your emotions fed, and your soul joyful is love.  Think of your greatest moments in life and you will find that love accompanied it.  In your worst moments, is it not the love of family and friends that comforts you?  In a marriage is it not love that is the most important thing you rely on from each other?  Does love not lead the way for compassion?  Isn’t it love that is God’s greatest gift?  Do you not feel better when you do something out of love and not just for self fulfillment?

Sure there will be hard times, bad situations, and horrible tragedies, but love can get us through all of that.  Can you say the same for anger, hate, or fear?  None of those will allow you to move forward, reach out, or even care.  Love is the way to peace and happiness.  Love is the only thing that matters, because without it then we all just go through the motions.  Love is what allows us to cry for a lost loved one and be so over-emotional when our children are born.  If there was not love then why would we even bother to have a child?

Love is the reason we make sacrifices for others.  Love is the reason we continue to strive for a better humanity.  Love is the reason we fight for other’s rights.  Love is the one thing that connects every one of us.  Love is the reason Jesus died for us.  Love is the reason we should never forget that.

Love is our greatest gift to each other!  Imagine if we gave it more often.
