Amazing Love

So there are some dirty dishes, clothes that need washed, a house that needs picked up and some Christmas decorations that need put away and this weekend was the perfect weekend to get it all done. We had no plans and since the holidays were past no sense of overwhelming things to do to get ready for them. Our plan was to wake up Saturday morning and by Saturday late afternoon have a perfectly clean house (don’t be mistaken our house is not filthy just needs a good thorough cleaning from all the holidays).

On Friday evening we made a small change in our plans. We decided to get up and run to the city to check out the Sam’s Club free pass we got and to get a membership. That would be about a 3 hour delay in our original plan but we still could come back and have everything done by Saturday evening.

That 3 hour delay changed into nothing being done the whole weekend. It is not that we got involved into doing so much more it is just as we left for our 3 hour excursion everything changed. We as a family always seem to have fun and try to spend a lot of time together, but there was something different about this weekend. There was no big extravagant fun filled weekend planned. It was just us and our kids on a trip for groceries, hair cuts and some movie rentals. The laughter of everyone filled our weekend so much that we didn’t want to do anything else. We didn’t want to go from laughing to ordering them around on which chore to do next. We knew we could always catch up on the cleaning but we would never get this moment again, maybe another moment but not this one, to laugh with our kids. As this weekend went on it seemed like the laughter never stopped. There were the occasional sibling arguments but there were also moments of each of them showing love towards another in ways they normally don’t.

This weekend hit me in the heart. I am so thankful to God for this kind of weekend. I am so wonderfully blessed. Thank you God for your love and your presence in our lives, it is much more than what I believe I deserve but fortunately for everyone your love is endless.

1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
