Sometimes A Photo Is More Than A Photo

Sometimes you don’t notice just how fast time is going by until you look at an old photo.  As soon as you look at it you feel like you can’t breath.  It is as if all the time that has gone buy is just now being sucked out of you all at once.  Those years are flashing before your eyes like an old movie reel.  You realize that you never held them enough and you never played with them enough.  In fact you never do anything enough with them.  Time is an enemy and your emotions run through you wildly.  You are sad for the time that has passed so quickly.  You are scared because you know in the future you will look at another photo and more time will have passed by just as fast.  You are angry that there is never enough time or more time.

After the movie reel has caught up to the present and after you had a few moments to catch your breath you then realize that not all time is bad.  You become thankful for the time you have had with them.  You look forward to the future time you will have with them.  You realize that there is not a better time than the present to spend with them.

No one ever says having kids will be easy.  They tell you about the sleepless nights, the terrible two’s, the teenage attitudes, and even the joys of having children.  They will tell you that time goes fast but no one can ever explain just how fast it seems to go until you live it.

So for all of you that one day will have children or have children, remember that no matter how much of anything you do with them, one day it will seem like it was never enough.  It will slap you in the face and you will think that you failed spending enough time with them, hugging them enough, or loving them enough.  Remember though that the bottom line is that even if we had more time to do those things with our children, it still would not be enough.  We will always believe that we didn’t do enough with our children, that there was never enough time.  The only advice I can give is just love them as much as you can.  Let them know how much you love them, let them know how much you enjoy them, and be thankful for every moment you have with them.  One day you will look at a photo and you will feel those emotions I am talking about.  Just remember we are not failures for not doing enough we are just limited on the time we have with them.

Even though God has limited our time he has also granted us with the most joy and the most love one could receive here on Earth; our children.
